Sometimes I stumble upon things in my life and realize that some of my dreams have become reality. It is so easy to live every day life and become desensitized to the things I set out to do…only wanting more.
Photography is very important to me. It is my creative outlet and it lets me express who I am and what I like. When I look at images I have created, I like to see the emotion and relationships that they portray instead of only people and faces. My images are not perfect, they are not technically correct, and most experts would say that I break a lot of photography “rules”… but my pics speak to me (no, I am not mental, they don’t actually “speak” to me! haha) about the children and families that I photograph.
But, with that being said, there was a time when my pictures did not mean anything to me and I did not know why. Acutally, I didn’t even know that my pictures were SUPPOSED to mean anything to me. Looking back, I used to photograph what I thought people wanted me to and really did not try to express any type of feeling…this bored me. Finally, I had a chance to redefine myself in my photgraphy… this excited me.
Now for the meaning of this long drawn out story… The family image above is absolutely perfect in my eyes. It portrays a new family, a young family, a family with so much love to give to each other. When I look at this pic, I can feel this family’s connection. Is that dorky? Well, if it is, I don’t care, then I am dorky. I love the feeling it gives me when i look at it. Soooo, this image symbolizes one of my dreams… to portray feeling and emotion and connection. I like it.
it is fun to dream.
